Two months!

Daniel turned two months yesterday! We went to the doctor for a check-up and his shots. I think it was harder on me than him. The pokes scared him and he cried really hard for a few mintues, but then he calmed down and slept on the way home. When we got back he gave me a really cute grin to say he was okay.

His check-up went very well! He is growing...a lot! His heart sounds great and he is a strong little boy! He now weighs 11 lbs. 11 oz. and he is 23 inches long (60th percentile for both)! He is really smiling and he loves to coo--we have daily 'conversations' now. :)

We took some pictures for his two month birthday. Some are before the appointment and you'll notice a few from after--he has band-aids on his cute little thighs.

Memorial Day Weekend

It is always nice to have a long weekend--Matt and I packed up our little man and headed up to Big Star Lake for Friday and Saturday. We spent some time with my parents and Scott. Then we drove to Higgins Lake for Sunday and Monday. Matt's parents and Kelly and Gracie were there--Matthew P. was farther north with their usual Memorial Day group of friends--it was a little early to have Gracie in a tent--maybe next year. Daniel did quite well adapting to each place. I think his sleep was thrown off just a little though--he is definitely catching up today--he has been sleeping for most of it! Hope tonight goes okay. ;)

Cousin, Cousin

Daniel and Gracie enjoyed hanging out together at Higgins this past weekend. Daniel hasn't quite caught up in size yet, but I'm sure it will happen before we know it! Daniel is packing on the pounds!

Happy Mother's Day!

...and a happy day it was! We actually spent two days celebrating. Saturday was in DeWitt with Matt's mom and grandma (and lots of babies!). Sunday was in Holland with my mom and grandmas. How exciting for me to celebrate this day as a mother too! My little man surprised me with a very cute card and an awesome gift on Sunday morning. He is such a thoughtful guy already--must get it from his dad. ;)

We're seeing more smiley moments from Daniel. I had to go to school today for a few meetings. I was late for my afternoon appointment because I had a hard time walking out the door--Daniel had the biggest grin on his face--how can you leave that? I think I am going to be in for a shock when August rolls around and I have to be gone every morning. Good thing Auntie Kelly will be taking care of him! That will put my mind at ease. We can tell he is growing daily. I would guess that he is pushing 10 lbs. by now!

Tulip Time

Kelly and I took the kids to their first Tulip Time parade on Thursday. They did well and enjoyed looking at everything! We tried to do a little photoshoot with them by the tulips. It was very funny...its hard when they can't sit up yet! Next year might be just as difficult because we'll be chasing 1 year olds! It was a beautiful spring day! Very fun...

Yee Haw!

We got the cute boots from Amy, Jay, & Chase. The cow is from Mr. & Mrs. Putnam. Daniel might just have a little country in him!

Sleeping Beauty

Aren't they cute when they sleep?

Daniel is getting heavy! We went to the doctor on Monday and he weighed 9 lbs. 8 oz.! Must love mama's milk! We went to the doc to check on his face--it seemed to be a little more than just baby acne--it was quite red and rashy this weekend. Turns out that he has cradle cap and it showed up on his face, neck, and ears too. We are treating it with hydrocortizone cream--its looking much better today! We go back in a few weeks for the 2 month 'well baby' check-up! Can't believe we are almost to the 6th week already!

Matt was home with us today--he was playing softball last night and re-injured his left knee. He is hobbling around for now--we'll see what the doc says in a few days. It was nice to have him home, but its too bad that he's hurtin'!

We spent the weekend up north at the Klein cottage on Higgins Lake...the wind made it a little chilly, but the guys got the dock in---summer must be right around the corner!

1st Month Milestones

A month has gone by since we welcomed little Daniel into the world! Wow! It has been so much fun to see the changes in him...and like everyone tells us, it DOES get better and more predictable everyday. Along with the expected case of baby acne, he has reached some of the 1 month milestones...

  • Lifting his head when lying on his tummy.
  • Responding to sounds.
  • Staring at faces--catching our gaze.
  • Briefly following objects/people with his eyes.
  • Staring at contrast in color--especially black and white patterns.
  • Staring at bright lights.
  • My favorite--he is SO close to smiling--I can't wait! He smiles in his sleep and when he has gas bubbles or when we tickle his cheeks. I am excited for when he actually smiles because he is looking at us!

We continue to introduce Daniel to his friends and family. What fun! The above photos show Daniel with his dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa (4 generations of the Klein family!) and with mom, grandpa, & great-grandma (4 generations of Tanis'). The other shows Uncle Scott (23rd birthday) and Daniel (1 month birthday).
