Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend was a bit of a whirlwind, but we were able to enjoy some gorgeous weather, spend time with family and friends, and we were able to fit in a few relaxing moments too.

I did not have school on Friday, so Matt decided to take the day off too.  We still had the boys go to daycare for the morning so we could pack and get a few things done.  Matt finished the landscaping in the front of the house.  It looks great!  What a difference.  I was able to contribute (a little) by planting some flowers.  I also planted my hanging flower pots for the backyard.  I had hoped to be packed by noon so we could drive up to the cottage during naptime, but we weren't even close to being ready.  We picked the boys up, took them home for naps and continued to pack for the weekend.

We finally made it to my parent's cottage by about 6:00 pm, had some dinner, checked out the lake and put the boys in bed.  They slept in the same room and did great!

We enjoyed a beautiful day on Saturday.  The guys finished getting the dock and boat lift in the water, we played in the sand, and watched the rest of the neighbors put in their docks!  :)  Matt and I left the cottage around 4:30 to come back to Grand Rapids for YaYa's surprise 30th birthday party!  We stopped quickly to pick up a gift, flew home to shower and get ready, then raced downtown to the party.  Of course, we were running late and missed the surprise, but it was so much fun to celebrate her b-day!  Thank you Chris, for such a nice party.

Matt and I slept at home and I woke up early to go back up north to spend the day with the boys and my family.  Matt went to Detroit to watch the Tigers play and to watch DJ ump the game!  I wasn't feeling the best---woke up with a sore throat and very stuffy nose, but we enjoyed another great day at the lake, and I took the boys home that evening.  I was thinking that it would work out well to leave at bedtime so they would both fall asleep on the ride home. William did fall asleep, but Daniel was wide awake and a bit naughty the whole way home.  Daniel went to sleep beautifully when we got home, but Will woke up as soon as we pulled in the driveway and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get him back to sleep. Ugh.

We would have liked to make it to Holland to see my grandpa in the parade and have the annual brunch with the family, but I was pooped by Monday morning so we opted to stay home.  It was great to have Matt back for the day.  I planted my garden during naptime.  We got out for a walk and spent some time at the park with the boys in the afternoon.  I stayed up too late trying to clean up the house and do laundry and get ready for the week, so I feel like I'm still catching up....  :)
Things are very busy at school--trying to wrap up a bunch of things in the next couple of weeks!  I cannot wait for summer vacation to be here!  Only about 8 more days!!!!!

April & May 2009

Hope you enjoy all of our many pictures from the last couple of months.  Just click on the picture of Daniel and you'll be able to see them.  We had a (belated) birthday party for Daniel, we made it to Tulip Time twice, and there are a few very precious moments with the two boys.  They really just can't get enough of each other!  It's pretty cute.

We are enjoying another summer-like day today!  Looking forward to an eventful Memorial Day weekend ahead!
